Is the weather in Atlanta really that hot? I'm from Minnesota. ☀️

I'm from Minnesota and I chose Georgia Tech partly because I'm so sick of snow. Like, genuinely cannot handle another winter scraping ice off my car at 6 AM. The idea of going to school where it's warm sounds like paradise. ☀️

But now I'm hearing from friends that "warm" in Georgia means something completely different. Like, "walk outside and immediately start sweating" different. One friend said "August in Atlanta is like standing in soup."

I need honest opinions from actual Georgia residents. Is the heat manageable? Do you get used to it? Are the buildings air conditioned? I don't want to trade freezing for melting. 🥵

Oh you sweet summer child (soon to be swamp child). "Warm" is not the word. "Oppressive" is closer. "Soupy" works. "Walking through a giant's armpit" is also accurate.

But here's the thing: you ADAPT. Your body literally changes. After a year, 75 degrees feels chilly. You'll wear hoodies when it's 65. And the second you go back to Minnesota in December, you'll be like "why did I ever leave this place to go to that frozen hellscape" while wearing a tank top in 40 degree weather cause you've lost all cold tolerance.

Worth it. 10/10. Come suffer with us.
