Need Advice on Choosing the Right Research Method for my Sociology Thesis

I'm knee-deep in my sociology thesis at UGA and could use some pointers on picking the right research method. It's like trying to find needle in haystack, isn't it? My topic is on the effects of social media on body image among college students. Would surveys be the way to go or should consider an experimental approach? So many decisions!
