Will Georgia Tech actually do anything with survey results? 🏛️

I submitted my Graduate Student Experience Survey last week and now I'm sitting here wondering if it actually matters. The survey is anonymous, which is good because I was brutally honest . But does anyone actually read these things?

Marc Canellas from GSGA said he was inspired by the 2015 undergrad survey, where administrators "already knew what the structural and personnel issues were" and "had already developed ideas about how to fix them" but "had never been given the political capital or the time to find a consensus and implement change" .

So basically they already knew things were broken. They just needed proof that students also thought they were broken. That's... kind of depressing? Like, our complaints don't matter until we have numbers to back them up?

Canellas said the survey gives administrators "the evidence in hand to make serious change" . Susan Cozzens said it will help "make more informed decisions" .

I want to believe this matters. I really do. But I've been in academia long enough to know that surveys often go into a black hole.

For anyone who was at Tech during the 2015 undergrad survey: did you actually see changes? What got better? I need hope that my feedback isn't just disappearing into the void. ✊
